Note International Contracting built a 10,000 m² covered storage warehouse in Al-Kharj for bulk coal. The scope ran from site preparation and foundations through the structural steel frame, roof and wall cladding, rainwater and site drainage, and heavy-duty external hardstanding and access roads able to take loaded trucks and handling plant.
The Execution Challenge
Bulk material storage puts high abrasion and point loads on the floor slab, dust and drainage demands on the envelope, and clear-span requirements on the structure. The building had to be weather-tight, easy to load and unload, and durable under continuous plant movement.
Construction Scope of Work
Earthworks & Foundations
Site clearance and grading, compacted sub-base, reinforced pad and strip foundations, holding-down bolts, ground beams, and buried services and drainage.
Compacted sub-baseStructural Steel Frame
Fabricated and erected portal or truss steel frame with clear internal spans, bracing, purlins and side rails, gantry supports where required, and protective coatings.
Clear-span portal frameRoof, Cladding & Floor
Roof sheeting, wall cladding and flashings, translucent roof lights, roller shutters and personnel doors, and a heavy-duty power-floated concrete floor slab.
Power-floated slabDrainage & Yard Works
Rainwater goods and downpipes, surface-water drainage and interceptors, reinforced concrete or heavy-duty asphalt hardstanding, access roads, and edge protection.
